Karin Brunk Holmqvist

The Blossom Beetles

(Rapsbaggarna)

The brothers Henning and Albert lead a quiet life outside a small village in beautiful Österlen in Sweden. Their days consist of bicycle excursions to the local store and discreet supervision of the old parental home. But times are changing. Their childhood home becomes a rehabilitation centre for women and there are rumours about strange circles in the brothers’ rape field. A small misunderstanding in front of a TV-camera and their quiet life is soon nothing but a memory.

Karin Brunk Holmquist writes with warmth and humour about the differences between old and new in our society and about the cultural clashes between urban life and life in the peaceful countryside.
